Unique Processes
CTC has made a significant investment in:
Press Equipment
Tooling
Processes
Resin Laboratory
Compounding Capacity
Because of this investment, we can offer our customers many options for improving both the performance and the cost of their plastic parts.
Compression Molding
With compression molding it is possible to produce simple flat panels or highly complex 3-dimensional (3D) parts quickly and accurately using inexpensive tooling at lower pressures.
Furthermore, these parts have less molded-in stress (which can otherwise lead to post-mold warpage) and do not have knitline issues associated with other processes.
Long-Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic (LFT or LFRT)
CTC has developed its own patented long-fiber reinforced thermoplastic process. LFT (or LRFT) is a molding process where glass and resin are combined in a plasticator, and then shaping it in a compression molding machine. This process has several benefits:
- Allows for greater stiffness of parts without causing increased brittleness
- Produces reinforced thermoplastic composites that can be customized on-the-fly
- Customers can obtain non-standard glass/resin ratios without paying a cost penalty
- Customers don’t have to purchase large lots of custom compounded material.
Extruder and Screw Technology
With our patented extruder and screw technology, we are able to maintain greater glass length than can be realized in injection molding or other typical LFT processes. Consequently parts maintain higher mechanical properties, even in:
- Deep ribs
- Bosses
- Standoffs
- Deep draws
Using this unique process, we can produce stiff, strong, lightweight parts quickly, at very low costs which is another reason CTC is considered one of North America's lowest-cost producer of compression-molded parts! |
