Tooling Specification

Once a product or component is designed, and a piece-price has been provided, CTC will offer an additional quote for producing tooling to mold the part.

Because tooling costs can vary greatly, we use a select number of toolmakers who have a proven record of quality to produce your mold. We then oversee production of that tool on your behalf.

Our compression-molding tools are usually machined from aluminum, but our staff will work with your engineering team to determine the best material for each application. This is determined by considering:

• Material
• Part geometry
• Inserts/actions
• Decorating requirements
• Estimated Volume
• Production Timeline
• Budget

As a rule, the cost of compression molding tooling will be 75% of the cost to produce the same tooling geometry for injection molding.  Because our patented molding technologies are easy on molds, they will receive little wear and tear, helping provide you with a long use-life and a high return on your initial tooling investment.
